New Music Monday is back with the stunning, SANAM rendition of Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein.
As a huge fan of the band I had been craving such a release from them, as it had been a while since they released a rendition. They truly did not disappoint us as they chose to cover Adnan Sami’s classic super hit Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein from the album Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao. It is currently the monsoon season in India and so it is perfect timing for this release. The song and video have been beautifully executed, and we get to see equal shots of the band. The way they choose to style, shoot and film their videos is truly exceptional and their standard gets raised with each release.
The band surprised (and almost worried!) their fans with an “important announcement” to be given from them, in a live chat at Facebook on Friday 31st Aug. The important announcement was of course the release of the brand new rendition! Lead singer Sanam Puri has lifted the song to another level with his melodious and soulful voice. Lead guitarist Samar Puri, is the secret star of the video for me as I always love and look forward to his solo guitar parts be it acoustic or electric. They have not only kept the original essence of the song intact, but have added a wonderful piano intro, beautiful harmonies …aisi barsaaton mein…aao naa… and ended the song in a unique way with Venky playing a bass guitar rift and Keshav’s acoustic drumming. Their version of the song is almost an acoustic, stripped back version of the original classic hit.
I have decided to add a new section to my reviews called ‘my fangirl comment’ and this will show up when I am particularly fond of an artist, as I am with SANAM band.
My fangirl comment
I have to take a minute to say that Mr Sanam Puri will most certainly gain another million plus female fans, for his solo rain sequence part of the video! He truly is a sight for sore eyes and is fully in his element while he sings and performs this part (my favourite line being khuli hai ye bahaein, dekhe ye nigahein raasta tera…). It’s a shame that we didn’t get to see the other three join Sanam in the rain, but we can only hope this will happen in another video with a similar theme. Samar’s acoustic guitar parts stand out equally as do Venky’s backing vocals for Sanam. Keshav’s acoustic drumming holds the song together. The video also took elements from Adnan Sami’s original videofor the song, such as clips of a female model drenched in the rain, and the beginning shot which shows the house in the baarish too. I am glad that fab four chose not to wear floral shirts like Adnan wore in the original video, haha! Can I also say just how happy I am to see that Samar Puri has co-edited the video. I love Samar’s editing and I think it explains why this video has got that extra special touch to it! Congratulations for 2 million views in only 48 hours guys!!!
Enjoy this weeks new music monday with the music of, romance, love and dreams: Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein from SANAM:
