Favourite Golden Oldie song: Humko Sirf Tumse Pyar Hai from Barsaat

This month’s favourite golden song is a Bollywood choice and this time, I have chosen one of my favourite songs Humko Sirf Tumse Pyar Hai from one of my favourite classic soundtracks Barsaat.

Now there are many Bollywood films with title Barsaat but the particular one that I am talking about, was Dharmendras’ production to launch his son Bobby Deol along side daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia: Twinkle Khanna. Not only do I feel that this was a great pairing, but it was also not a bad debut film in my opinion and yes, I have seen the film.

I will often watch a Bollywood film where I enjoy more than one song on the soundtrack and that is why I love Barsaat. The film released in 1995 and had a tremendously popular music score by Nadeem-Shravan. Not only did they give us melodious numbers such as Humko Sirf Tumse Pyar Hai, Nahin Ye Ho Nahin Sakta, Ishq Mein Ek Pal but they also tried something different and at that time, pushed the boundaries with Teri Aadon Pe Marta Hoon…Love Tujhe Love Main Karta Hoon… as there was very limited use of English in song lyrics during the 1990’s.

I particularly love Humko Sirf Tumse Pyar Hai for its effortlessly flowing melody right from the very first note, and the wonderful vocal pairing of Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu who always sound great together. I had even recorded this song on the piano too. I hope you will all enjoy my favourite golden oldie song choice for this month!
