If you are new to the blog, hello and welcome and thanks for stopping by! Around the 21st of each month, I share one of my favourite songs. They are a mix of old and new and give an insight into my favourite kind of music. An artist whose music I have always been a fan of, is Alicia Keys. This month’s favourite song is Fallin from the album Songs in A Minor by Alicia Keys.
I will be guaranteed to turn up the volume whenever Fallin‘ is played on the radio. It was my first introduction to Alicia Keys as an artist and a clearly remember being blown away by this soulful heartbreak melody and of course, the very important fact that she plays the piano.
There still aren’t enough female artists out there (in my opinion) who keep the piano as part of their performance (Freya Ridings springs to mind most recently) and so it really was a breath of fresh air seeing Alicia, especially back in 2001 when the song and album released – I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since!
I really enjoyed Alicia Keys New Year’s Eve concert that aired at the end of 2020. It was a strange experience watching it because she was unable to have a live audience yet she handled it with such grace and her unique energy that made the concert an enjoyable one to watch. You can watch a short clip of the concert below as well as the music video for this month’s favourite song Fallin‘. Thank you for the music Alicia!
