All participants receive the Complementary Course by iClassical Academy including lifetime access to six music masterclasses (worth $150). Submission Deadline: May 20, 2022.
The second annual Petrichor International Music Competition is now open for submissions. This annual musical performance and composition contest provides support, inspiration, and exposure to composers, instrumentalists, singers, ensembles, and orchestras from around the world.
Submit your application for over $60,000 value in prizes! Due to the current and foreseeable circumstances, participation will be conducted entirely online. Musicians are asked to submit videos of their performances, and composers and improvisers to submit audio recordings or score submissions.
This competition is open to instrumentalists, singers, ensembles, and composers of all ages and nationalities. All musicians are welcome to apply. The Petrichor Artistic Panel and the jurors will carefully review submissions individually and without regard for age, nationality, gender, or musical style. All instruments are welcome for this competition.
There is no specific repertoire required to participate in this competition. Each performer has the freedom to determine which piece or pieces to perform. The selected piece could be drawn from a standard repertoire, composed by a living composer, or an original work by the performer. The chosen piece will not affect the jury’s decision-making process. Singers may choose repertoire in any language.
Applications will be reviewed by a jury panel consisting of world-renowned musicians from The Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music, Eastman School of Music, and Mannes School of Music. The Jury panel members remain anonymous until the announcement of winners.
Jem Girl, I’m a big fan of yours! I wanted to share my experience with this Petrichor Competition you’d promoted: This competition will keep pushing deadlines until they get enough applicants, thus putting anyone who respected early deadlines at a disadvantage. Deadlines were pushed by over half a year in 2022, with 500 people applying at around $70/application. The odds of winning will not be announced, as they shift with the shifting deadlines. I really wouldn’t recommend it. They are rude and patronizing when you point these problems out to them (“You’re just mad you didn’t win”) and the emphasis is on money-making, not the pursuit of good music. Please avoid it and save yourself time and money.

Hi Eva,
Thanks so much for taking time to comment and let me know about this.
As you can tell, I haven’t promoted this competition in quite sometime, because I kept receiving their emails with the extension of their deadline and that made me think they weren’t legitimate. I am so sorry for your bad experience with them!
Thank you for supporting Jem Girl at the Piano 🎹 💜 if you’d like me to promote your music, feel free to let me know.
