Concert Pianist and composer Adrian Lord to release new album Piano Postcards in July

Knutsford concert pianist and composer, Adrian Lord is launching Piano Postcards, a new CD of ten beautiful tracks, on 7th July. Each ‘postcard’ is a stunning musical interpretation of a place that he loves, interspersed with his own treasured memories of being there.

Adrian said: “I’ve been fortunate to experience so many breathtaking places throughout my life and they’ve certainly proved a strong influence on my piano compositions. I’m excited to share these new compositions and hope that my listeners will be able to picture themselves in these very special locations.”

The ten original tracks include scenes from Adrian’s childhood park in Cheshire, holidays to the magical Western Isles of Scotland and recollections of an unforgettable piano concert in Milan. Through his music, Adrian invites listeners to join him on a stroll down Llandudno’s Victorian pier, aboard a steam train on the iconic London Midland & Scottish

Railway line and stargazing in the spa town of Moffat in Scotland, which is also known as Dark Sky Town. His love of walking and the Great British Outdoors feature heavily in his ‘postcards’, as he brings to life the magical views of the Peak District, the Wainwright Fells and the Scottish lochs.

In the lead-up to the launch of his new CD, Adrian has released two tracks as singles on Spotify and Apple Music– ‘Castle Crag’ came out on 28th April and Wish you Were Here on 19th May. A third single, Bon Voyage, will be released on Friday 16th June. Sheet music for all three singles can be downloaded on Sheet Music Plus.

The CD, which can be purchased from Adrian’s website (www.adrianlordpiano.com) features stunning artwork by Karen Johnson of Millie Moth Designs, a Derbyshire artist who specialises in alcohol ink paintings and digital collages. People will also be able to listen to ‘Piano Postcards’ on both Spotify and Apple Music.

Piano Postcards is available as a beautiful book of sheet music, which will be released on 7 July. Perfect for pianists at Grades 5-7, it can be purchased from Adrian’s website shop, Forsyths in Manchester, Margin Music in Macclesfield and JG Windows in Newcastleupon-Tyne or downloaded on Sheet Music Plus.

In celebration of the new CD, Adrian will be performing all ten ‘postcards’, as well as favourite pieces from his three earlier albums, in a concert at Knutsford’s Hidden Barn on Thursday 20 July at 7.30pm. Tickets for this performance are on sale now from Adrian’s website http://www.adrianlordpiano.com

As an added extra, Adrian has launched a money-can’t-buy Instagram competition. The prize is an exclusive preview performance of Piano Postcards on the afternoon of 20th July at the Hidden Barn. Adrian will play a handful of pieces for the intimate audience of prize winners, who will also get the unique opportunity to sit and chat to him about his music. To be in with a chance of winning, avid listeners will need to create their very own piano postcard using a video or photo of their favourite destination. “These new pieces are so personal to me and I’m excited to be playing them live,” added Adrian. “My previous concert in the 17th century Hidden Barn had a very special atmosphere, and I can’t wait to return and play ‘Piano Postcards’ there.”

He will also be playing at Brook Street Chapel Hall at 4pm on Sunday 11th June, as part of Knutsford Music Festival’s Classical Evening, Buxton Festival Fringe on 22nd July and St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on 29th July.
