Stay Lunar continue 2023 in the fine form that they started in with fresh new cut, Before You Go.

“Bristol quintet Stay Lunar get their next release on SAM Records today with the feather-light Hello Friend, a scintillating single that swiftly follows ‘Immediately’ and reaffirms the band as one to watch for fans of indie and dream pop.” – Gigwise
“A breakout success that have taken to new heights’” – CLOUT Magazine

It’s been a long run to this point for Stay Lunar, but as the tracks keep coming out the sound gets tinges of a band nearing the fully formed and developed sound they desire.
New single, Before You Go, features all those hallmark traits of what could be considered typical of Stay Lunar. Swirling ear worm melodies paired with a driving rhythm section.
Though on this track, it feels as though Harry Leigh (vocals) has given more thought to the instrumentation of his voice. The lofty and reverb heavy vocal line sits atop the composition that brings it to the forefront of the track.
Rather than a song, it feels much more like a lament. Lines like “we’ve got to book-end our senses”, “I know your mind is stuck in Paris, mine’s ten feet below”.
Rather than the usual he said, she said conversational style of many contemporary lyrics, this feels very matter-of-fact. Before You Go sounds like the ending of a relationship and the stream of consciousness that follows.
Taking cues from their British contemporaries like Far Caspian & early stage SPINN, whilst nodding to the likes of Day Wave and The Drums further afield, Stay Lunar are offering a quintessentially British take on a much loved and revered sound.
Employing the services of new producer, Alex Quinn (Overpass, Royston Club), the band have managed to keep their much formed identity in place whilst delivering a fresher take on it.
Already this year Stay Lunar have worked with the brand Lucy & Yak and supported King No-One in their much-loved Thekla, all the while feeding the Blogosphere with earlier single, I Like It When You’re Around.
Things will only improve too, as the band are set to release their sophomore EP later in the year, details for which will follow.
Closing 2022 one band and starting 2023 feeling like a new one is so typical of a band as meticulous as Stay Lunar, everything is done for a reason.
2022 saw the band make some in-roads with the release of their debut EP and live shows supporting Fickle Friends, SPINN as well as a headline show to round it all off.
Their songs have also been given airings across BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio (Charlie Ashcroft & Shell Zenner) and even Robert Carlyle of 51st State, Trainspotting and The Full Monty.
With huge support coming from Spotify with adds to their Indie Pop playlist (1.5 M followers), Hot New Bands and Fresh Finds:
Rock playlist whilst Hotel Chocolate and Starbucks gave the band some love via their in-store playlists.
I like it when you’re around is the start of a big year for Stay Lunar, and it’s good to have them around.
