#1 Hit Songwriter Celebrates His Twenty Years In Music With A New Album

“This album took forever to make. I started working on it in 2020. In fact, some of the tracks date back to 2018. ‘This Is My Happy Face’ and ‘Better Man’ both came out first but only because they were more straightforward to make. With ‘Rainbows and Dead Flowers’ I wanted each track to have a life of its own. Not just production-wise and musically but also lyrically. That’s why the themes on the album range from childhood to the fear of dying. But it’s not just doom and gloom, mind you. There’s a bit of sex and fun on the record too.”

Hot on the heels of his three summer smashes – “Something New” (UK/Rock #4), “Overnight Sensation” (Canada/Rock #3) and “Fire and Ice” (UK/Singer-Songwriter #10) – Tom Tikka releases a new twelve-song album called “Rainbows and Dead Flowers” on September 29. Eleven of the album’s twelve tracks are cowritten with his former bandmate from The Impersonators, Antti Autio, and the album’s produced by Tom Tikka and Janne Saksa. Released exclusively by One Media, this release marks Tikka’s twentieth anniversary in music. It was after all in August 2003 that Carmen Gray cut its first professional demos.
Tom Tikka, the former Sony/BMG songwriter, best known for his work with Carmen Gray, began his solo career in 2020 and has since released two critically acclaimed albums “This Is My Happy Face” and “Better Man”. The former included two #1 hit singles, “Doormat” (South Africa/Rock) & “With Eyes Closed” (South Africa/Rock), while the latter featured the #2 hit “Done with Blues” (Belgium/Alternative) and “By 2022” that reached #14 on Canada’s Pop Chart and climbed all the way to #35 on Canada’s Top 100 chart (All Genre). Tikka’s latest singles “Something New” and “Fire and Ice” were both UK Top 10 hits, peaking at #4 and #10 respectively, while his recent collaboration with the British group WILLJACK gave Tom his first transatlantic hit. Their song “Overnight Sensation” reached #3 in Canada and #51 in the UK.
Tikka has been featured on Huffington’s Thrive Global, Authority Magazine, Melody Maker Magazine, Ballroom Blitz, The Hollywood Digest, VENTS Magazine and many others, while his music videos have won at film festivals around the world. He is also a two-time ISSA Award winner as well as a Josie Music Awards and Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominee with countless semi-finalist and finalist positions in international songwriting competitions.
