After a really promising year in 2023 with sold out shows, radio and Spotify playlists to boot, Megan Wyn starts 2024 in fine form on sparkling new cut, Are You Bored Yet?. The last 12 months really have been ones of large-scale change, another year older, another year of experience and a hell of a lot more wiser, Megan Wyn continues to artistically perform way ahead of her years.

In 2023, Megan was booked for numerous tastemaker metropolitan festivals dotted around the country including Twisterella and Beyond The Music, as well as, choice support slots with the likes of Swim Deep and Andrew Cushin. She also sold out her hometown headline show in Manchester, and played to a packed out room in Liverpool whilst appearing at Truck Festival.
At radio, Megan has already had playlist support from Radio X alongside a live session with John Kennedy. Amazing Radio also added previous single, Familiar Faces to their A-List which saw the track get to a top 20 placement on their chart. She also did a live session with BBC introducing Manchester, whilst gaining repeat support at BBC Radio London and BBC Radio Merseyside including a live session for the latter.
Wyn was also Huw Stephens’ Artist of The Week on BBC Radio Wales and added to the station’s playlist. Wyn also had support at Spotify UK with placement on tastemaker playlists such as Proper Belters & Fresh Finds UK & IE.
On the brand new single, the Welsh artist shows that age really is just a number and talent is something that is unimpeded by that number. This time calling upon slightly poppier influences, you could argue there are hints of Circa Waves and Blossoms present throughout the song and its production.
Are You Bored Yet? Is arguably Megan’s brightest and most contemporary cut so far. The bright guitars and clever wit in lines like: “6 months have passed, I still wear your clothes, I still water your plant”, sound like an artist truly brimming with confidence and having fun with it.
What makes it different to most records though, is the way in which Megan has drawn upon her influences new and old. Her love of Amazon’s blockbuster series, The Six, almost oozes out of your speakers as her PJ Harvey-esque croon delivers ear worm after ear worm.
Rare that an artist is effortlessly cool whilst calling upon pop sensibilities relentlessly. Wistful but assured in equal measure, it sounds exactly like a teenager figuring themselves out.
Speaking about the song, Megan said: “Are You Bored Yet is a song about holding on to someone who isn’t good for you. It’s a song about that period of time when a relationship is coming to an end & you keep asking yourself if you’re bored of trying to make a toxic situation work”
Looking ahead to this year, Megan has already been booked for a slew of festivals including Liverpool Sound City, GorillaFest amongst others that are to be announced. She will also be headlining London on the 13th March.
2024 promises to be a truly stellar year for Wyn with a headline tour + debut EP to follow later this year, the world truly is the young starlet’s oyster.
Familiar Faces, was written with and produced by Alex Quinn (The Royston Club, Lottery Winners, Michael Aldag) over the course of an extensive period of writing in Summer 2022.
Previous years saw Megan play The Great Escape, Truck Festival, Y Not and Isle Of Wight Festival. And she completed her debut headline tour earlier in the year. An old head on young shoulders, Megan rightly feels that she has reached her starting point. With live experiences already in the bag, it was just a matter of honing her sound and landing on something that was truly representative of herself.
It’s also true that moving from her native Anglesey just off the Welsh coast, to her now home of Manchester at the age of 16, would have helped Megan develop not only as a musician but most importantly as a woman.
Megan grew up wanting exactly what she has now, the ability to put pen to paper and have songs fall out of her, to play shows to packed out venues in Manchester, as well as, elsewhere.
