Beluga Lagoon releases new studio album this month

The brainchild of Scottish wildlife film-maker Andrew O’Donnell (Beluga Lagoon) is gearing up to unveil his sixth studio album, The Slug’s Bunnet on Thursday, 23 May, 2024. The eagerly awaited release comes hot on the heels of his triumphant performances across the Scottish landscape.

Described as “music inspired by the great outdoors”, the project has already amassed more than 4 million streams on Spotify alone, with a rapidly growing fanbase stretching from the highlands to far-flung corners beyond Scotland’s borders.

The first half of 2024 saw Beluga Lagoon dominate headline sets across the country, from Live in Loch Goil Festival to the sold out venues of Aviemore’s Osprey Arena and Stirling’s historic Albert Halls.

Next stop is a headline gig at the famous Glasgow Barrowland (Thursday 30 May), which sold out in just four minutes, when it went on-sale last December.

The Slug’s Bunnet transports listeners to a fictional bar, drawing inspiration from the colourful characters that inhabit its walls. Andrew O’Donnell shared his excitement about the album, stating, “The Slug’s Bunnet is basically a culmination of notes and characters I’ve met over the years of travelling. Hopefully there’s at least one character in there everyone can relate to.”
