The Silence Of The Lambs to be performed with live orchestra for the first time at the London Soundtrack Festival 2025.
Howard Shore’s score for the 1991 classic starring Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster will be performed by the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, conducted by Ben Palmer with the composer in attendance Barbican – 24 March 2025, 7:30 pm. Tickets on general sale Friday 22 November 2024, 10:00 am.
The London Soundtrack Festival [20 November] extends the line up for its inaugural event in March 2025, announcing a landmark screening of the multi-Oscar-winning film The Silence of the Lambs (1991), featuring Howard Shore’s acclaimed score performed live for the first time.
The event, taking place at The Barbican on 24 March, features the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, conducted by Ben Palmer and is followed by an exclusive Q&A with Howard Shore and other special guests, still to be announced.
The Silence of the Lambs with live score is the latest addition to the Festival programme, headlined by Howard Shore, one of the most successful and popular film composers. Shore’s soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, for which he won countless awards (including three Oscars and three Grammys), is some of the most beloved film music of the last 25 years. His extensive work includes scoring films such as Mrs Doubtfire, Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, and six films with Martin Scorsese including The Departed and The Aviator.
In recognition of his constant originality, creativity and craft, Shore will become the first recipient of the Gunning Inspiration Award, which will be presented to him by director as part of the LSF’s central Gala Concert.
Other highlight events featuring Shore include:
- A sold-out screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, introduced by Shore
- An exclusive Q&A event with Howard Shore and director David Cronenberg, celebrating their 45-year collaboration
- Screenings of Crash and Dead Ringers, both jointly introduced by Shore and Cronenberg
- Featured works as part of Friday Night is Music Night: Live at Alexandra Palace and the LSF Gala Concert
In association with the BFI, the London Soundtrack Festival will be hosted by some of the capital’s greatest cultural venues, including the Southbank Centre, Alexandra Palace and BFI IMAX, and feature several of London’s leading orchestras and the biggest names in film, TV and games music. Founded by concert producer, broadcaster and musician Tommy Pearson, the Festival reflects London’s status as one of the most important cultural centres for soundtracks worldwide, with its legendary studios, musicians, facilities and leading creative artists across all music disciplines.
