MQA and Bluesound Team Up with British Music Tastemakers to Present ‘The Master Sessions’

LONDON / TORONTO, 7 JANUARY 2020 – Bluesound, the premium audio brand and MQA, the pioneering music technology company, are teaming up with two influential music organisations, Jazz re:freshed and British Underground, to present “The Master Sessions.” The Master Sessions is a series of live concerts, streamed in real time using MQA sound, to over 100 audio retailers around the world through Bluesound’s premium hi-res audio players. Music fans will be invited to share in a live audio experience like no other, featuring some of the UK’s leading jazz acts performing from renowned studio locations. To mark the campaign launch, a dedicated microsite TheMasterSessions.com has been published with full details on the participants and activities.

Sixth Single from Douglas MacGregor Grasping the Wind 

Musician Douglas McGregor

London-based musician and composer using the power of music to process grief releases sixth single in a series of seven.

Douglas MacGregor, award-winning composer and guitarist, was 7 years old when he lost his mother to cancer.

Twenty-five years later, having been anchored only by music throughout his teens and twenties, MacGregor finally succumbed to grief; the result of which is Songs of Loss and Healing, a seven-part instrumental series, with accompanying music videos, which takes the listener on MacGregor’s personal journey of delayed grief.

The sixth instalment, Grasping the Wind, is released on 23 September and is about remembering someone departed. Listen to the instrumental here

The Engine Room International Sound Art Competition 2019

CALLING ALL SOUND ARTISTS: THE ENGINE ROOM INTERNATIONAL SOUND ART COMPETITION 2019

The Engine Room is pleased to announce its third international sound art competition for emerging sound artists. This year’s competition and events are organised in collaboration with IKLECTIK to celebrate their 5th anniversary.

The competition invites the submission of new sound art – including audio and audio-visual pieces, interactive works and performances, installations, sound sculptures and graphic scores – by 15 September 2019.

Submitted entries will be judged by a panel of experts including award winning composers and sound artists Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), Kate Carr, and Eduard Solaz (Iklectik Art Lab).

Birmingham Jazz musicians entertain stars of The Peaky Blinders

On 18 July Town Hall Birmingham hosted the exclusive launch of the hotly anticipated fifth series of BAFTA-award-winning Peaky Blinders, the epic gangster series set in 1920s’ Birmingham.

Home to many a historical drama in its near-200-year history, Town Hall Birmingham greeted the series’ stars and fans with a spectacular red carpet event organised by BBC Birmingham and BBC One, and music provided by Jazzlines musicians playing jazz repetorie from the 1920s onwards.
