The world is burning, and teen trio Polarized Eyes have something to say about it. Blazing with punk energy, their new single Inferno is set for release on all digital music platforms on 29th April 2020. The track was recorded at Alchemy Studio, London and produced by Kenny Jones, whose production chops span from Bauhaus and The Smiths to Billy Bragg and The Jim Jones Revue.
Inferno fires a warning shot at complacent governments and apathetic corporations who continue with business as usual – counting their money while the clock ticks away for the planet. An urgent bassline and driving beats are topped by searing guitar riffs and powerful vocals, featuring smart lyrics that belie the band’s youth.
Inferno is the second single from Polarized Eyes, following on from last year’s critically acclaimed Storm, which was played on BBC Radio 6Music, Dandelion Radio, ARfm and The Book of Lies, earning praise from the likes of Tom Robinson and Brix Smith Start. Storm was included on a compilation album from House of Beauty and made it into Dandelion Radio’s Festive 50 – the top 50 tracks of 2019 in the tradition of the late, great John Peel.
Polarized Eyes are Katie Lonergan (vocals and guitar), Amber Welsh (guitar and bass) and Harry Heard (drums). The 15 and 16-year olds were brought up properly on the music of Patti Smith, The Who and The Clash and their sound is influenced by Nirvana, Royal Blood and Idles. They’ve been friends since they met at their North London primary school and started making a noise together in 2018. The band has been getting crowds excited at London gigs with an explosive live set and at their last gig before heading into the recording studio they took the roof off a sold out house at The Dublin Castle.
Selected praise for Storm:
“160 seconds of authentic lo-fi, high energy punk rock that would have put a smile on the face of their spiritual predecessor Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex” Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music
“I love it!!!! It put a smile on my face” Brix Smith Start
