Album Review: Echo by US band Pale Blue Dot

I’m pleased to be sharing my next album review of 2024, which is an 11 track pop-rock music record Echo, created by the US based band Pale Blue Dot. What stands out to me the most about this album, is that each track has been produced of the highest quality and each song arrangement has been carefully thought out. The songs are all of a decent length too, which is rare these days. As is giving equal importance to music and lyrics.

I absolutely love the sound of this album as not only does it remind me of music from the 90s (Mike and the Mechanics, Don Henley), but all of the tracks have a deep meaning, reflecting on topics of addiction, divorce and the denial of science. Read on to learn my thoughts about each track from this wonderful, well produced album.
You Know We Landed on the Moon talks about appreciating the current state of the Earth and being grateful for what we have despite the shortcomings. This is most probably my favourite track of the album, as it also reflects upon gratitude and being grateful for what we have. Humans are lucky…we need unity…
Stay is a romantic track which intro reminds me of various tracks from the 90s and it really is wonderful to hear this kind regards sound in 2024! It talks about wanting to stay in a relationship with someone, despite the differences.
How is New York has a rockier edge to it, with a lengthy electric guitar solo in the middle. New York is so many people’s favourite city, and of course this particular song has a lasting impact it the listener. The song talks about someone who has moved on from a relationship and is now experiencing the high life of New York and not looking back.
Our Fire is track number 4 and goes back to the romantic element of the album. A slightly more laid back piece compared to the previous tracks. Additional female vocals provide an extra touch to the track.
Secondary Planet opens in a voicemail style, and talks about feeling frustration with current situations. When everything is working, trouble begins… The song has a rock vibe to it.
Serotiny gives me Boys of Summer by Don Henley vibes, haunting melody. The longest track on the album at just over 6 minutes. Flawless arrangement. Additional female vocals on this track too. A bittersweet song about world circumstances.

Closer has a longer intro, as do most of the tracks on this album. On all the tracks, the band’s front man Tony LaRocco sings with pure passion and emotion. This is evident in each track of the album.

Here Me Now beautiful acoustic guitar intro to this track, but then develops into something much edgier. I get distinct Fleetwood Mac The Chain vibes with this track. Electric guitar solo towards the end is superb. Each track so far is individual in sound, yet represents the band’s influences well and captures the listener.
Trying to Live has a much more laidback arrangement, completely different to the previous track Here Me Now. The song talks about trying to keep up with living daily life.
The Wolf is the second to last track of the album, and packs a punch as the album finale! The song talks about fighting for the one you love, amongst those that are being the wolf.
Gold Star is the last track of the album and the shortest at just over 2 minutes. It has a beautiful soft, lilting melody and is a song that reminds you that you are not alone.

That’s a wrap on my review of the soon to be released album Echo by Pale Blue Dot. If you enjoy listening to pop rock music and songs that have plenty of meaning, then I highly recommend listening to this album. Echo releases on 18th October 2024.
