Friday 31st May 2019, became a day that I will never forget, as I had the chance to see the incredible Jack Savoretti perform live at the SSE Arena, Wembley, for the very first time. I bought my concert ticket in April and the seat I got turned out to be a brilliant viewpoint for the stage. On the night, I very quickly realised that I wasn’t sitting too far away from the Savoretti family!! (block N5!) I also had a very good view of the screens. The concert began at 7.45pm with support act Lissie music and I was pleasantly surprised by her talent; her not wearing any shoes on stage and her ability to hold the longest of notes! As a pianist myself, I took to Lissie’s music straight away and plan to listen to her album too. Thank you Lissie for a wonderful set and for setting the mood before Jack arrived on stage!

Empowering a generation of female music producers

Empowering a generation of female producers Town Hall Symphony Hall and Cubepresent a FREE six week music production course with Emmavie.

Earlier this year, Town Hall Symphony Hall and CUBE presented a six week music production course designed for female producers from Birmingham.

A recent report titled Inclusion in the Recording Studio – the second annual report from Professor Stacy L. Smith and the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative to investigate the music industry – highlighted that only 2 percent of producers across 400 songs were female. For producers, this translates into a gender ratio of 47 males to every one female.

Music Review: Singing to Strangers by Jack Savoretti

After a long time, have I come across an artist who is not only extremely talented, but is a thorough, serious, dedicated musician. This is especially rare to find in today’s day and age when nearly all artists are more about the fame than the music! I can only say that I truly wish he hadn’t been “hidden away” for so long (not mainstream enough), as I feel like I have truly missed out on listening to some great music. I immediately purchased his brand new album Singing to Strangers, on the same day of first listening to it (and this does not happen very often to me either!) I am of course, talking about British Singer and Songwriter Jack Savoretti.

I have been listening to Singing to Strangers on repeat mode for the entire last week, since purchasing via Amazon Music (which is so easy to do, especially if you have your own Amazon account) and I just knew that I had to review the album. I also managed to listen to Jack live on the radio twice during the week, where he performed stunning acoustic versions of Candlelight (BBC2 radio Piano room) I haven’t been this excited about an album since Emeli Sande’s Our Version of Events which released in 2012. To me, the sign of a good album is one where you like all of the tracks and don’t have to skip any, and, you can also listen to the album on a loop and discover something new with each listen and Singing to Strangers has definitely had that effect on me!
